Science Online

Welcome to the new "9-1" GCSE Physics course

Our first topic is Forces.

We will also be developing the skills needed to draw good graphs.

To support your classroom learning you may wish to use the online resources created by Digital Learning for Wales (https://hwb.wales.gov.uk). To visit the science resources page, click here. You will find the animations and micro-quizzes particularly useful in the module Science 3 - Forces. In addition, take a look at Science 2 - Describing Motion (ignore the text that says it's a biochemistry topic... it isn't: it's physics!).

A good way to improve your graph-drawing skills, especially creating accurate lines of best fit, is to use a Best Fit Line Ruler. This cleverly-designed ruler was invented by Miles Hudson and is available to buy from TimStar. Example data sets that can be used to practise drawing best-fit graphs are available from the Best Fit Ruler website.

Some students find it difficult to use the pale-blue graph paper that is supplied as standard in school. If you would like to design and print your own graph paper then there are several websites that allow you to do that. One free service is available on incompetech.com by clicking here. An example, with orange a black grid lines, is embedded below: you can download, save and use this graph paper by right-clicking on the image.
